Toys: recalls and official safety alerts
15 EU Safety Gate alerts concern products recorded under the brand Toys. The first dates from 25 March 2020, the latest from 12 August 2026. In the last four complete quarters there were 3, down from 5 in the four quarters before. The hazards named most often are choking (73%), chemical (40%) and environment (7%). Read from the official risk descriptions, the most common reasons are small parts or stuffing can be swallowed (80%), restricted chemical above the legal limit (27%) and button cells or batteries are accessible (13%). 100% were for products made in China. The products flagged most are rattles and baby toys (13%), slime and putty (7%) and toy guns (7%). 13% of the EU alerts were marked as sold online, and 13% name an online marketplace, most often Amazon and Temu. The most common outcome was withdrawn from the market (67% of EU alerts); 80% included a measure ordered by an authority. Chemicals named in the official risk descriptions include phthalates, short-chain chlorinated paraffins and boron.
