Hot surfaces, steam or liquids
73 official alerts and recalls concern products flagged for “hot surfaces, steam or liquids”: 44 from EU Safety Gate and 29 from US CPSC. The first dates from 23 December 2019, the latest from 29 July 2026. In the last four complete quarters there were 23, up from 6 in the four quarters before. The hazards named most often are burns (86%), fire (23%) and injuries (21%). 73% were for products made in China. 43% of the EU alerts were marked as sold online, and 20% name an online marketplace, most often Amazon, Walmart and eBay. The most common outcome was recalled from consumers (59% of EU alerts); 48% included a measure ordered by an authority. Chemicals named in the official risk descriptions include lead.
