Communication and media equipment from China

33 EU Safety Gate alerts concern communication and media equipment made in China. The first dates from 27 July 2020, the latest from 3 September 2026. In the last four complete quarters there were 11, up from 4 in the four quarters before. The hazards named most often are environment (67%), chemical (30%) and electric shock (12%). Read from the official risk descriptions, the most common reasons are restricted chemical above the legal limit (82%), lead in solder or components (70%) and non-compliant plug or socket (15%). 45% of the EU alerts were marked as sold online, and 15% name an online marketplace, most often Amazon, Shein and Joom. The most common outcome was import rejected at the border (42% of EU alerts); 52% included a measure ordered by an authority. Chemicals named in the official risk descriptions include lead, phthalates and short-chain chlorinated paraffins.
