Dangerous products made in South Korea
138 official alerts and recalls concern products made in South Korea: 132 from EU Safety Gate and 6 from US CPSC. The first dates from 16 January 2020, the latest from 29 September 2026. In the last four complete quarters there were 15, down from 40 in the four quarters before. The hazards named most often are injuries (51%), fire (41%) and chemical (9%). Read from the official risk descriptions, the most common reasons are ingredient not allowed in cosmetics (7%), overheats, melts or short-circuits (3%) and restricted chemical above the legal limit (3%). The products flagged most are creams and lotions (5%), button batteries and batteries (2%) and tattoo ink (1%). 7% of the EU alerts were marked as sold online, and 0% name an online marketplace, most often Amazon. The most common outcome was recalled from consumers (89% of EU alerts); 8% included a measure ordered by an authority. Chemicals named in the official risk descriptions include lead, lilial (BMHCA) and nickel.
