Dangerous products made in Portugal
56 official alerts and recalls concern products made in Portugal: 54 from EU Safety Gate and 2 from US CPSC. The first dates from 28 January 2020, the latest from 24 September 2026. In the last four complete quarters there were 8, down from 9 in the four quarters before. The hazards named most often are injuries (50%), chemical (29%) and other health risk (11%). Read from the official risk descriptions, the most common reasons are restricted chemical above the legal limit (16%), ingredient not allowed in cosmetics (16%) and cords or drawstrings can strangle (11%). The products flagged most are perfume and eau de toilette (11%), children's clothing (9%) and cleaning products (7%). 30% of the EU alerts were marked as sold online, and 4% name an online marketplace, most often Amazon. The most common outcome was recalled from consumers (59% of EU alerts); 43% included a measure ordered by an authority. Chemicals named in the official risk descriptions include lead, lilial (BMHCA) and phthalates.
