Baby sleeping bags, cots and nests on Amazon: recalls and safety alerts
30 official alerts and recalls concern baby sleeping bags, cots and nests sold on Amazon: 14 from EU Safety Gate and 16 from US CPSC. The first dates from 9 July 2020, the latest from 6 August 2026. In the last four complete quarters there were 8, up from 6 in the four quarters before. The hazards named most often are injuries (57%), suffocation (37%) and choking (30%). Read from the official risk descriptions, the most common reasons are restricted chemical above the legal limit (37%), fingers, limbs or head can be trapped (20%) and too flammable (10%). 60% were for products made in China, 3% were for products made in Malaysia and 3% were for products made in Belgium. The most common outcome was sales ban (43% of EU alerts); 0% included a measure ordered by an authority. The EU alerts were notified most often by the authorities of Ireland (79%), France (14%) and Northern Ireland (7%). Chemicals named in the official risk descriptions include lead.
