Dummies and dummy clips on Amazon: recalls and safety alerts
27 official alerts and recalls concern dummies and dummy clips sold on Amazon: 23 from EU Safety Gate and 4 from US CPSC. The first dates from 25 February 2021, the latest from 26 March 2026. In the last four complete quarters there were 3, down from 13 in the four quarters before. The hazards named most often are strangulation (48%), choking (44%) and chemical (11%). Read from the official risk descriptions, the most common reasons are small parts or stuffing can be swallowed (41%), restricted chemical above the legal limit (22%) and breaks or collapses (19%). 85% were for products made in China, 4% were for products made in Germany and 4% were for products made in Denmark. The most common outcome was recalled from consumers (57% of EU alerts); 30% included a measure ordered by an authority. The EU alerts were notified most often by the authorities of Germany (57%), France (17%) and Luxembourg (9%). Chemicals named in the official risk descriptions include lead and bisphenol A.
