Earrings: recalls and official safety alerts
201 EU Safety Gate alerts concern earrings. The first dates from 17 December 2019, the latest from 1 October 2026. In the last four complete quarters there were 16, down from 35 in the four quarters before. The hazards named most often are chemical (100%). Read from the official risk descriptions, the most common reasons are restricted chemical above the legal limit (100%). 55% were for products made in China. 46% of the EU alerts were marked as sold online, and 28% name an online marketplace, most often Amazon, eBay and Wish. The most common outcome was withdrawn from the market (29% of EU alerts); 42% included a measure ordered by an authority. Chemicals named in the official risk descriptions include cadmium, nickel and lead.
