Ladders: recalls and official safety alerts
55 official alerts and recalls concern ladders: 48 from EU Safety Gate and 7 from US CPSC. The first dates from 4 March 2020, the latest from 30 September 2026. In the last four complete quarters there were 18, about the same as the 18 in the four quarters before. The hazards named most often are injuries (93%), entrapment (7%) and strangulation (5%). Read from the official risk descriptions, the most common reasons are tips over or lets the user fall (51%), breaks or collapses (20%) and restricted chemical above the legal limit (9%). 75% were for products made in China, 4% were for products made in Mexico and 4% were for products made in Vietnam. 54% of the EU alerts were marked as sold online, and 44% name an online marketplace, most often Amazon, Bol and eBay. The most common outcome was import rejected at the border (58% of EU alerts); 83% included a measure ordered by an authority. Chemicals named in the official risk descriptions include lead.
