Ladders on Amazon: recalls and safety alerts
20 official alerts and recalls concern ladders sold on Amazon: 17 from EU Safety Gate and 3 from US CPSC. The first dates from 26 August 2020, the latest from 30 September 2026. In the last four complete quarters there were 7, down from 10 in the four quarters before. The hazards named most often are injuries (90%), entrapment (10%) and strangulation (10%). Read from the official risk descriptions, the most common reasons are tips over or lets the user fall (60%), breaks or collapses (15%) and fingers, limbs or head can be trapped (15%). 85% were for products made in China, 5% were for products made in Mexico and 5% were for products made in Hong Kong. The most common outcome was import rejected at the border (82% of EU alerts); 88% included a measure ordered by an authority. The EU alerts were notified most often by the authorities of Northern Ireland (88%), France (6%) and United Kingdom (6%).
