80 EU Safety Gate alerts concern alerts and recalls published in 2019. The first dates from 10 December 2019, the latest from 23 December 2019. The hazards named most often are injuries (38%), chemical (22%) and choking (19%). Read from the official risk descriptions, the most common reasons are restricted chemical above the legal limit (25%), small parts or stuffing can be swallowed (19%) and ingredient not allowed in cosmetics (12%). 38% were for products made in China, 11% were for products made in Germany and 9% were for products made in France. The products flagged most are skin-lightening creams (11%), soft toys and plush (9%) and children's clothing (9%). 8% of the EU alerts were marked as sold online, and 4% name an online marketplace, most often eBay. The most common outcome was recalled from consumers (45% of EU alerts); 56% included a measure ordered by an authority. Chemicals named in the official risk descriptions include lead, mercury and boron.
