Dangerous products made in France
1,071 official alerts and recalls concern products made in France: 1,062 from EU Safety Gate and 9 from US CPSC. The first dates from 11 December 2019, the latest from 22 September 2026. In the last four complete quarters there were 206, down from 303 in the four quarters before. The hazards named most often are chemical (43%), injuries (35%) and fire (14%). Read from the official risk descriptions, the most common reasons are ingredient not allowed in cosmetics (43%), restricted chemical above the legal limit (2%) and small parts or stuffing can be swallowed (2%). The products flagged most are perfume and eau de toilette (25%), shampoo, shower gel and soap (6%) and creams and lotions (3%). 6% of the EU alerts were marked as sold online, and 1% name an online marketplace, most often Amazon, eBay and Walmart. The most common outcome was recalled from consumers (58% of EU alerts); 41% included a measure ordered by an authority. Chemicals named in the official risk descriptions include lilial (BMHCA), lead and hydroquinone.
