Dangerous products made in Italy

2,052 official alerts and recalls concern products made in Italy: 2,039 from EU Safety Gate and 13 from US CPSC. The first dates from 11 December 2019, the latest from 15 September 2026. In the last four complete quarters there were 257, down from 723 in the four quarters before. The hazards named most often are chemical (83%), injuries (13%) and strangulation (4%). Read from the official risk descriptions, the most common reasons are ingredient not allowed in cosmetics (81%), cords or drawstrings can strangle (5%) and restricted chemical above the legal limit (4%). The products flagged most are perfume and eau de toilette (27%), shampoo, shower gel and soap (20%) and creams and lotions (9%). 2% of the EU alerts were marked as sold online, and 1% name an online marketplace, most often Amazon and eBay. The most common outcome was sales ban (81% of EU alerts); 89% included a measure ordered by an authority. Chemicals named in the official risk descriptions include lilial (BMHCA), lead and nickel.
