The hazards named most often are chemical (45%), injuries (19%) and choking (13%). Read from the official risk descriptions, the most common reasons are ingredient not allowed in cosmetics (32%), restricted chemical above the legal limit (13%) and small parts or stuffing can be swallowed (13%). 46% were for products made in China, 21% were for products made in Italy and 6% were for products made in France. The products flagged most are nail polish and gel nails (27%), e-cigarettes and vapes (4%) and soft toys and plush (4%). 39% of the EU alerts were marked as sold online, and 32% name an online marketplace, most often Amazon, eBay and AliExpress. The most common outcome was recalled from consumers (38% of EU alerts); 45% included a measure ordered by an authority. Chemicals named in the official risk descriptions include lead, phthalates and lilial (BMHCA).
