Swim aids and inflatables on Amazon: recalls and safety alerts
33 EU Safety Gate alerts concern swim aids and inflatables sold on Amazon. The first dates from 23 December 2020, the latest from 28 September 2026. In the last four complete quarters there were 9, down from 15 in the four quarters before. The hazards named most often are drowning (76%), choking (15%) and injuries (12%). Read from the official risk descriptions, the most common reasons are fingers, limbs or head can be trapped (45%), small parts or stuffing can be swallowed (15%) and missing warnings or child-resistant closure (12%). 79% were for products made in China and 3% were for products made in United Kingdom. The most common outcome was removed from online marketplace (64% of EU alerts); 45% included a measure ordered by an authority. Chemicals named in the official risk descriptions include phthalates and lead.
