116 EU Safety Gate alerts concerned e-cigarettes and vapes in the 12 months to 30 June 2026. There were 46 in Q2 2026, up from 7 in Q1 2026. In the 12 months before, there were 131.
Read from the official risk descriptions, the most common reason was restricted chemical above the legal limit (99%), followed by e-liquid breaks nicotine rules (99%) and missing warnings or child-resistant closure (28%).
64% were made in China. 1% of the EU alerts were marked as sold online and 0% name an online marketplace.
The authorities of Czechia (103), Ireland (6) and Malta (3) filed the most alerts. The most common measure was withdrawn from the market (42% of EU alerts); 100% were ordered by an authority rather than taken voluntarily.
