426 official alerts and recalls concerned perfume and eau de toilette in the 12 months to 30 June 2026: 425 from EU Safety Gate and 1 from US CPSC. There were 37 in Q2 2026, down from 92 in Q1 2026. In the 12 months before, there were 941.
Read from the official risk descriptions, the most common reason was ingredient not allowed in cosmetics (100%), followed by allergen not declared on the label (2%) and missing warnings or child-resistant closure (0%).
24% were made in Italy. 1% of the EU alerts were marked as sold online and 0% name an online marketplace, most often Amazon (1).
The authorities of Italy (271), Czechia (69) and Hungary (54) filed the most alerts. The most common measure was sales ban (76% of EU alerts); 93% were ordered by an authority rather than taken voluntarily.
