Fairy lights and light chains on AliExpress: recalls and safety alerts
9 EU Safety Gate alerts concern fairy lights and light chains sold on AliExpress. The first dates from 1 February 2022, the latest from 8 July 2026. The hazards named most often are electric shock (89%), fire (44%) and electromagnetic disturbance (11%). Read from the official risk descriptions, the most common reasons are insufficient insulation or moisture protection (67%), live parts can be touched (67%) and power cord too thin or not anchored (33%). 100% were for products made in China. The most common outcome was removed from online marketplace (56% of EU alerts); 22% included a measure ordered by an authority.
