Kettles, fryers and kitchen appliances: official safety alerts report, Q3 2026
Preliminary: authorities publish some alerts weeks after their date, so these numbers may still change until 21 October 2026. After that this edition is frozen.
61 official alerts and recalls concerned kettles, fryers and kitchen appliances in the 12 months to 30 September 2026: 58 from EU Safety Gate and 3 from US CPSC. There were 10 in Q3 2026, down from 16 in Q2 2026. In the 12 months before, there were 11.
Read from the official risk descriptions, the most common reason was overheats, melts or short-circuits (33%), followed by restricted chemical above the legal limit (28%) and non-compliant plug or socket (23%). restricted chemical above the legal limit rose from 9% of alerts in the previous 12 months to 28%.
66% were made in China. 29% of the EU alerts were marked as sold online and 17% name an online marketplace, most often Amazon (7), Temu (2) and AliExpress (2).
The authorities of Germany (20), Northern Ireland (11) and France (9) filed the most alerts. The most common measure was recalled from consumers (62% of EU alerts); 36% were ordered by an authority rather than taken voluntarily.
