Amazon Cosmetics recall list
56 official alerts and recalls concern cosmetics sold on Amazon: 55 from EU Safety Gate and 1 from US CPSC. The first dates from 2 July 2020, the latest from 24 September 2026. In the last four complete quarters there were 10, down from 13 in the four quarters before. The hazards named most often are chemical (91%), other health risk (5%) and burns (2%). Read from the official risk descriptions, the most common reasons are ingredient not allowed in cosmetics (89%), restricted chemical above the legal limit (25%) and allergen not declared on the label (11%). 11% were for products made in China, 11% were for products made in United Arab Emirates and 9% were for products made in India. The most common outcome was removed from online marketplace (38% of EU alerts); 42% included a measure ordered by an authority. The EU alerts were notified most often by the authorities of Sweden (36%), Germany (24%) and France (16%). Chemicals named in the official risk descriptions include lilial (BMHCA), hydroquinone and formaldehyde.
