69 EU Safety Gate alerts concern cosmetics made in India. The first dates from 17 December 2019, the latest from 24 September 2026. In the last four complete quarters there were 16, up from 11 in the four quarters before. The hazards named most often are chemical (91%) and microbiological (9%). Read from the official risk descriptions, the most common reasons are ingredient not allowed in cosmetics (99%), restricted chemical above the legal limit (28%) and microbial contamination (9%). 20% of the EU alerts were marked as sold online, and 10% name an online marketplace, most often Amazon and eBay. The most common outcome was sales ban (48% of EU alerts); 77% included a measure ordered by an authority. Chemicals named in the official risk descriptions include lilial (BMHCA), lead and boron.
